Taking art to a new level

Aleit and Kojabu Designs recently hosted and celebrated the art of three artists in Aleit’s home in Somerset West. Being Kojabu’s first exhibition, this unique experience certainly ‘brought art to the home’ and allowed exhibition-goers to experience these inspiring pieces in a warm and unpretentious atmosphere.  We are looking forward to the next one!

John Bauer
John is better known as the "Doilie Lama". He works with ceramics and porcelain. John has had a number of
exhibitions around the globe and now he has the honour of working on yet another European exhibition in the
UK. John Bauer is an artist. Using porcelain, he etches, embosses and draws fantastical scenes juxtaposing this
reverie of the mind with mundane everyday objects. He then adds a poem and finishing with watery tints.
Problems posed and fairy tales began are solved and explained when one holds the story bowl to the light and the
water marks are illuminated. The scene is decoded and serenity is restored. http://www.johnbauerart.com

Joubert Stander
Joubert studied Art with Graphic Design as main subject, at Paarl College and Cape College. The then spent 10
years in the advertising industry. On his 30th birthday celebration, his friends surprised him with a gift of a series
of classes with the celebrated artist Catharina de Bliquy. Two years later he started painting full time. His first
exhibition was mounted in the home of the well-known wedding and events coordinator Aleit Swanepoel,
founder of the award winning The Aleit Group. For three years he mainly produced small oil paintings but then,
desperately seeking inspiration for a gift for a friend, he painted a portrait on a pebble. Today his works are on
display in private collections as far as Canada, the USA, Australia and the UK. He has mounted three
exhibitions, two solo shows and a joint exhibition. Between painting he now also works at Rialto Art Centre as
frame and art consultant.

Kurt Daniel
Kurt is extremely well known as a Visual Artist and also very well known for his "aloe paintings on canvas". He had
previously exhibited at well-known places like Open Art Route Zuidoost, and some of his work is on display at
OnSite in Woodstock and also at Africa Nova. http://kurtdaniel.withtank.com/
